Why not hire the Somali pirates as bounty hunters to find Osama Binladen?
Q. Somali pirates want to make money, so why not hire them as bounty hunters to hunt down wanted terrorists. It would be beneficial to all involved.

A. They are idiots and can't think ahead enough to know that escape in a boat without any fuel is a bad idea. I doubt they could find Bin Laden if he were standing right behind them.

Is it legal for bounty hunters in california to carry tasers?
Q. I am just wondering... And while i am on this question i will ask another similar question. Can bounty hunters carry handguns, if they have a permit?
Asked by HelpME! - Thu Jan 7 18:54:00 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Bounty hunters are just citizens who collect bounties. They have the same rights and restrictions as any other citizen. In California, that means they can carry tasers, if they want to, and can carry a gun if they can get a carry permit. In California, carry permits are "may issue," which means who gets one is totally at the whim of the chief law enforcement officer (CLEO -- Chief of Police or Sheriff) of the applicant's city or county of residence. Some issue a lot. Some don't issue at all. Some are rumored to accept bribes of various sorts. Bounty hunters are subject to that mess just like any other citizen. Addition: I can find nothing in the California codes that says a taser is equivalent to a firearm. They are subject to… [cont.]

Can bounty hunters have blue police lights?
Q. i was wondering if Bounty hunters can have Blue police lights. I know that its illegal ushly, because you impersonating an officer. but seance bounty hunters kinda are a law enforcement if they had that right.

A. Actually police are the only ones who can have both blue and red lights and strobes. So having a single color isnt against the law. But having both blue and red or a white strobe at the same time is. Thats the reason for security that are not police having a single color

How do bounty hunters make money?
Q. I just saw the show Dog the bounty hunter for the first time and it seems that he is the bondsman and the bounty hunter. If he puts up the bond money and they run, does he make money by capturing the fugitive, or simply get his own money back? What are the details of the process?

A. that show is NOT reality...it is entertainment. general bail bond information: you are the bond company and someone has called you from jail wanting to get out. you tell them it is $XX fee for the bond. they or a family member/friend pays the bond fee up front before you write the bond. (some companies will do credit where you only pay a portion up front and pay out the balance, but this will only happen if the defendant is not considered a flight risk) if the person goes to court and is adjudicated (is found guilty/innocent) then everyone is happy. no money is refunded to the defendant. if the defendant fails to appear, the bond company has to pay the county/municipality the full amount of the bond (though most counties only ask for a… [cont.]

What do you think of Bounty Hunters?
Q. Are they like the old west Bounty Hunters or are they a necessary portion of law enforcement? No, I'm not talking about Duane Chapman but real Bounty Hunters. Chapman doesn't treat his fugitives the same as when the camera is turned off. Should the law limit their powers more than they do?
Asked by corezink - Sat Sep 16 22:17:34 2006 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think the laws concerning Bounty Hunters should be stricter. In some states, they are not even required to be licensed in any way. There is little to no training involved in becoming one, and no monitoring of these individuals actions. While I do believe there is a need for Bail Enforcement Agents, I think a lot of the people drawn to that profession are the very people who shouldn't be in it. There is nothing wrong with the government requiring licensing, training, monitoring, and accountability of their actions. The better trained, the better the results.

When was the first known time when bounty hunters and wanted posters roamed and papered the American west?
Q. I have had some research pull up after Abe Lincoln was shot but surely they were bounty hunters and wanted posters before then. If anyone has a site to find that answer PLEASE let me know. Thanks.

A. The first wanted posters probably showed up right after the printing press was invented. I'm fairly sure wanted posters were issued for John Hancock and the other founding father who was with him in Lexington. It might have even led to the British marching there and the battle taking place. Someone had clearly informed on Hancock's whereabouts. There have always been people willing to make a fast buck by turning in someone they didn't know for the reward. The only difference with the bounty hunter is they actually go out and put their own lives on the line to do the job. It really is a job to them. I know bounty hunters existed from 1800 on. They made the best money catching runaway slaves. Read Uncle Tom's Cabin and Tom… [cont.]

A. Police officers uphold the law of the US. They are responsible for keeping the public safe and arresting or ticketing those who break laws. They are employees of the local or state government. Bounty hunters, or fugitive recovery agents, work with bail agents to ensure that people who have been arrested by police officers for allegedly committing a crime appear in court for their trial. They are compensated by the bail agent, who is usually responsible for thousands of dollars if a defendant misses his or her court date. Both are integral parts of the criminal justice system. A. Yes they do, but it's called researchers. It is their job to find what no one else has found, to seek into the mysteries of science and to find what can help and cure, and also to find out what others are doing in the field and how others may have stolen from you or your company. Yes, but they are more brains and less muscle than bail-jumper bounty hunters.
