How is a diamond the strongest material in the world?
Q. I've heard that a diamond is the strongest material in the world since a diamond can only be cut by another diamond. I do not understand that. Can't it be cut or broken with a chainsaw or something? Even possibly a very strong hammer?
Asked by Anime - Tue Jul 22 04:32:34 2008 - - 13 Answers - 2 Comments
A. Since we see the results every day in jewelry stores, we know that rough diamonds can be cut, but only by other diamonds -- usually in the form of diamond dust.. In most cases, a diamond will be cut with a saw blade. Since diamonds are the hardest material known (which means they cannot be scratched with any other substance), only diamonds can cut diamonds. So the diamond is securely mounted and held against a thin alloy blade impregnated with diamond dust and covered with linseed oil. As the blade turns, it carries small particles of new diamond dust which sticks to the oil and continues the process until the entire diamond is split in two. This can take several days for a diamond over 1 carat or more.

What is more important when valuing a diamond, clarity or color?
Q. I've learned that color and clarity are both important when setting the value of a diamond, but it's very expensive to buy a high grade diamond. So I like to know what people prefer to buy, a high grade is clarity and low grade in color? or high in color and low in clarity? And which is better, a diamond color/clarity that is D/SI2 or a diamond color/clarity H/VVS2?

How do I get my diamond ring turned into a necklace?
Q. I have my grandmother's old engagement ring which I would like to have turned into a diamond necklace. The diamond is small, maybe a half carat or so and I would like just a simple solitaire or other timeless setting. I'm open to suggestions. How much will it cost and where would I go to get it done?
Asked by Ashley - Tue Mar 16 10:31:25 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You can pick a full bezel or half bezel from www.whiteflash.com It will cost you 75.00 to set. Make sure you send your diamond in with an appraisal or valuation. It s a good idea to get your diamond insured before you have anybody set the diamond. You minimize any risk in handing over your most precious diamond to a company to set. Check out reviews on this place to feel sure that they might provide a good alternative to resetting your diamond into a necklace. BTW that s a great way to refresh your diamond into a new look . Good Luck!

What pokemon diamond team should i use to beat the elite four?
Q. I just bought pokemon diamond and i want to know what will be the best pokemon team (no ubers) to beat the elite four. please make suggestions thanks.
Asked by RICHARD C - Sat Nov 29 08:48:29 2008 - - 14 Answers - 10 Comments
A. Start with a Chimchar and then trade Starly/Bidoof for the other two starters over the GTS. When you evolve all three of those, you'll already be well on your way to having a decent team to beat the game. Catch a Shinx early on in the game and use that as your Electric Pokemon. After you get Cut, go to the Wayward Cave underneath the cycle path near the first Gym town and catch a Gible. When it eventually evolves into a Garchomp, nothing will stop you.

How do i get a diamond necklace for Christmas cheaper?
Q. My husband told me he wants to get me a necklace for Christmas. We're going together and i know the design i would like for it (a bezel set diamond) but i'd like to be able to get the largest diamond we can afford. I was wondering how you go about haggling at a jewelry store or if that's even acceptable to do. How much off can you ask for? Our budget will probably be $300. I know that since we're in a recession it seems like i should be able to swing a deal some how. Please help.

Is the Diamond Institute of India a Reputable and Reliable Rater of Diamonds?
Q. I have repeatedly found diamond jewelry online with a DII (Diamond Institute of India) Certification - not an organization I am familar with beyond their own claims on their website. They seem to be the preferred certification for "just4diamonds". Any thoughts on DII or just4diamonds?

A. I have never heard of DII until today, but I did check online and they seem unreliable. For example, just4diamonds is selling diamond earrings graded FG (color) SI (clarity). A reputable diamond lab would designate what SI clarity, either SI1, SI2 or (in the case of EGL) SI3, which is actually I1 by GIA standards. Also those diamonds should be graded either Colorless (F) or near colorless (G) a diamond cannot be both. The only reputable gem lab whose opinion I value is GIA ( Gemological Institute of America ) They created the grading system that we use today, and World wide they are considered the best gem lab because of their stringent criteria in grading diamonds. a minimum of 5 Graduate Gemologists grade each diamond or gemstone that… [cont.]

Q. I have a tan complection ,but I want to get lighter & fairer skin. How do I get whiter without applying any products on my face? What are the other benefits of a diamond peel?

A. diamond peels will take off the top layer of your face, leaving it exfoliated and way smoother. BUT this is not permanent, as new cells get pushed up everyday, and they will die, and you have to exfoliate again to take them off. you don't really need diamond peel, bec you can just get a good facial scrub and use that around 2x a week if you have normal skin. more if your skin is oily and less if it is sensitive if you want a lighter complexion, its not really possible to do it without applying any products. if you smoke, however, stop that and you'll get better skin. also be careful of what you eat. healthy food = healthy skin, but not lighter. will you consider sunblock at least to minimize tanning from the sun? there are whitening… [cont.]

What does diamond shape with f in it mean on a 10k gold ring?
Q. Found a ring with 6 diamond like stones, engraving on the ring says 10 k then has a diamond shape with an F inside the diamond shape. Any idea what it means?
Asked by Spence - Thu Mar 18 12:05:10 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It does indeed sound like colour F diamonds, which are themselves very good. Bearing in mind that the very whitest diamonds you can get are colour D, it is only 2 grades down from this, so in theiry they should be lovely, white diamonds. I guess there's nothing on the ring relating to the clarity of the diamonds? Do make sure that the diamonds are eye-clean (ie there are no visible inclusions in the diamonds to the naked eye). After all, there is little point in having great quality F coloured diamonds with a poor clarity grade, as you won't get the sparkle factor I'm sure you want. I hope this helps in some way.

How important is it that a diamond engagment ring be GIA certified?
Q. Shopping for engagement ring for my girlfriend, and prices are friggin ridiculous. Why does it seem so important that a ring be GIA certified, and what is the biggest difference from a diamond that is and a diamond that isn't?

A. Marketing will have you believe that it makes a huge difference. It doesn't. Just know your 4 C's. Color, cut, clarity and carat. That's what really matters. When something is GIA certified, it just means that they have done the work for you and gave it their special rating. Do a little research, and save some money

A. Diamond dust on your skin is no more dangerous than any other dirt. It is no more able to work its way under your skin than most other external substances. Most cleansing creams are made of what is known as "air float" silica (jagged pieces of silica - think quartz, glass and sand). Even swallowing diamond dust is not really bad, although it is a waste of diamond. A diamond massage is just marketing hype.

I made a research to find out which is better, but I noted they mention "Pokemon Diamond & Pearl", never mentioning them separetely. In sites of games, they mention them together. But if there are 2 different games, why would them be identicals? I didn't read anything like "the different between the versions". Then, can you guys tell me? What's the difference? Which is better?

A. If the diamond is eye-clean then cut is more important. With an emerald cut I do not believe an SI2 will be eye-clean. With an emerald cut you usually need a VS2 to get an eye-clean stone. It is easier to see inclusions in an emerald cut than any of the brilliant cut diamonds. As you probably know going up to VS2 will cost you more money, but you will have a much more beautiful diamond. Good Luck!

A. the other people dont know what they are talking about i have the code to this game and it works cuz i used it but this is the masterball one where in your items where all your repel and escape ropes and stuff like that are there will be x492 masterballs in the 1st slot at the very top 9400130F FCFF000 B21C4D28 000 B0004 000 94000130 FEFF000 000890 01ED0001 D000 000 DA000 000892 DC000 00024620 C000 000B D7000 000 DC000 0006 D2000 000 activate by pressing l+R you will need a complete national pokedex book or online pokedex to help and it starts at 492 so if u wanted a pokemon like Ho-Oh which is 250 you would have to subtract 492 - 250 = 242 which means you would have to toss 242 masterballs but remember you can not catch the pokemon… [cont.]

How do you certify a diamond bought in a different country?
Q. What would I need to do resale and certify a diamond bought in Ethiopia while I was on vacation there? Thank you for your answers. To my first answer. Ethiopian diamonds are not blood diamonds and are not listed as a country barred from supplying diamonds due to conflicts. Please if you don't know what your talking about save your answer.

What is the best cut diamond for all around brilliance and sparkle?
Q. I've looked at Bed Bridge and Jared's so far. I like the Signature at Ben Bridge and the Peerless at Jared's but would like more suggestions from someone with experience in the diamond business or that has worked at both places. The diamond is round by the way.

A. An Ideally cut round brilliant is the best cut for all around brilliance and sparkle. You can get this from any reputable jeweler, you don't need to pay for a brand name to get this top quality. Go to your local independent AGS affiliated jeweler, tell them exactly what you want, and how much you want to spend, and they will take excellent care of you. Please don't waste your money at some national chain - the overhead really drives the prices up.
