How do wedding and engagement rings work?
Q. This topic confuses me... Is the engagment ring traditionally more expensive, or cheaper than the wedding ring? Why are there 2 rings (engagement and wedding) wouldnt that be extremely expensive? Does the guy get an engagement ring too, or is the just the girl? Does the girl have to buy the guys wedding ring? Does the couple shop for the wedding rings together? Also, isn't there an engagement/wedding ring that is like 2 pieces, and when the wedding comes you get the 2nd piece?

do have a catholic wedding do you have to get married in a church?
Q. I'm planning my friends wedding and her cousin is a priest who they'd like to have conduct the vows. They want a catholic wedding, one honored by the church, but they want to have a outdoor wedding as well. As Catholic's are we allowed to be wed outside the church or does it need to be in a church in order to have your wedding blessed by the church?

A. In order for it to be a Catholic wedding and seen as a marriage by the Catholic church, you must be married in a Catholic church. Because of the strong stance the Catholic church has on weddings, your friend's cousin will not be able to perform the ceremony or even appear there as a priest unless it is in a church. I had some very dear friends of mine be excommunicated for "living in sin" because their marriage wasn't performed in a church. They had it in a nondenominational chapel of a location that meant a great deal to them. It didn't make any difference to the church. They were still considered to not be married. Your friend needs to decide what is more important, an outdoor wedding, or a Catholic wedding. Good luck.

Wedding Reception at a hotel in san francisco japan town, how can i add subtle japanese touches to my wedding?

Ok so we are planning on having our reception at the Hotel Kabuki! it was recently renovated to be very modern and even has gone green. we love the venue but did not plan on a japanese decor,and really would love to accent our wedding with the japanese theme.our food and beverages already have subtle touches we want to see it in our centerpieces, and favors , tradition, and attire. our colors are platinum ,aubergine and lavender .

That said, why don't you have little bonsai trees for centerpieces? You can also have cherry blossom branches, but the real ones are expensive and the fake ones are hard to find. What kind of wedding flowers would compliment a turquoise theme?
Q. My bridesmaids, wedding dress trim, and groomsmen will all be rocking turquoise at our wedding in a year. My mother is in charge of flowers and is having a hard time coming up with something that will compliment that color! I thought pink roses or stargazer lilies would be best but she thinks I'm nuts. A. The best way to compliment turquoise would be with strong vivid colors that match light blue. Forget the light creams and whites and go bold with deep purples, reds and even orange. Use Lisianthus, dahlias, garden roses and lilac. New Zealand calla lilies come in a variety of colors, look rich and can be easily placed in any design.

Ever played violin for a wedding ceremony?
Q. Hi! I've been asked to play violin for a wedding ceremony (I live in Pa) though I play very well I have never done a wedding. I'm wondering how much I should charge? Also how do I know how to get the timing of the music down so it ends at the right moment after they come down the isle when there's no way to know until the rehearsal itself. I'd appreciate any advice from someone who's performed for wedding on how to go about things. Thanks so much!

A. I have played with 3 other people for 2 weddings. (It was a quartet they wanted.) Since the parents of the bride were teachers at the school, we agreed that each of us get $50 ($200 total) for just playing the wedding song and extra (depending on how long they wanted us to play at the reception).

Where should we go for our second wedding and our first honeymoon?
Q. Me and my husband are planning our second wedding and our first honeymoon. It will happen summer of 2011 after our actual wedding 10th wedding anniversary. I really want this to be a rocking time for me and my husband. Hubby doesn't want a beach wedding, go on a cruise, or leave the continental united states. We're open to suggestions or locations. From my experience though I remember my aunt and uncles first wedding almost 10 years ago and on their 5 year anni. they got re-married and went on their first honeymoon. They had their second wedding in a big open field that had nothing around for what seemed like miles. They had a couple huge tents set up and an area set up for the ceremony. It is usually held 2 or 3 days after the wedding.
